Description
2 Days Safari visiting the Amboseli National Park. It is a 3-4 hours’ drive from Nairobi. Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya's most popular parks. It is crowned by the breathtaking scenery of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. The name "Amboseli" comes from a Maasai word meaning "salty dust”. The park is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. The park has an endless supply of water which is filtered through thousands of meters of volcanic rock from Mount Kilimanjaro. Animal species seen include elephant, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala and leopard. The birds seen here include pelican, bee eater, kingfisher, African fish eagle and pygmy falcon. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with Sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. You can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture. You will be staying at Elewana Tortilis Camp. Elewana Tortilis Camp has a prime location for witnessing the majesty of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. Tortilis Camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and embraces a hill in one of Amboseli’ s areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland. Located in a private conservancy bordering the national park, game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the national park and in the conservancy, where guests enjoy exclusivity. Tortilis Camp was one of the first eco-lodges of its size, and is very proudly 100% solar. Guests can rest assure they are leaving a minimal footprint during their stay.
