A 3 days safari visiting the Samburu National Reserve, one of the famous safari destinations in East Africa. It is located in the Northern part of Kenya on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro river. It is 5-6 hours’ drive from Nairobi. Samburu National Reserve is a haven for an abundance of rare species of animals such as the Grevy Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostrich. It is also home to Elephants, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Birds are also common in the reserve with over 450 species. You will be staying at Ashnil Samburu Camp/Samburu Riverside Camp/Elephant Bedroom Camp. Ashnil Samburu Camp is a luxury tented set in the spectacular backdrop drop of the Mighty Ol Olokwe Mountain fronting Ewaso Nyiro River. The luxury Tents are spread out along the shady banks of the river under a thick stand of doum Palms. Each tent features a decked Terrance with views of the Ewaso Nyiro River. An outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sun lounges, a garden and a Lounge bar offering views of the African savannah. /Samburu Riverside Camp is located in the heart of the beautiful Samburu National Reserve and close to the Ewaso Nyiro River. It offers a natural environment with very little interference to the environment and its inhabitants. It is home to many birds, tortoises, vervet monkeys, elephants and many more. /Elephant Bedroom Camp is an intimate tented camp with simplistic elegance, luxury and style providing an astonishing safari experience. Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
Pick up in Nairobi Hotel/Airport and Depart for Samburu at 7.00 am. This will be a 6 hours’ drive. There will be an enroute stop over to view Mount Kenya with its Snow-capped peaks. Arrive at the camp just in time for check in and lunch. Embark on your first game drive in the afternoon with a chance of spotting the Grevy Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostrich, Elephants, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Later in the evening drive back to your camp for dinner and overnight stay. Lunch and dinner at Ashnil Samburu Camp/Samburu Riverside Camp/Elephant Bedroom Camp.
Day 2 Full Day Samburu National Reserve
Early morning game drive before returning to the camp for breakfast. After breakfast embark on a full day game drive with packed lunch boxes. This shall be a full day of unlimited wildlife viewing. Possible sightings of unique wildlife species like Oryx, Gerenuk, Gravy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich and other wild animals’ peculiar to this semi-arid region. Your game drives will be along Ewaso Nyiro river where most of the wild animals are found. You will also be able to watch different species of birds found in the reserve. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp/Samburu Riverside Camp/Elephant Bedroom Camp.
Day 3 Samburu National Reserve to Nairobi
After breakfast drive back to Nairobi. Upon arrival you will have late lunch at the famous carnivore restaurant then later on dropped off at your hotel/Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to board your flight back home. Breakfast at Ashnil Samburu Camp/Samburu Riverside Camp/Elephant Bedroom Camp and Lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant.
