Lake Bunyonyi is a beautiful lake located in southwestern Uganda, near the border with Rwanda. It is one of the deepest lakes in Africa and is known for its stunning scenery, with rolling hills, lush vegetation, and over 29 islands. The lake is also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, fish, and hippos.
Lake Bunyonyi is a beautiful and serene place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Uganda Safari. With a little planning, you can have a truly unforgettable trip.
It can be visited anytime throughout the year though the best time is during the dry season which is also known as the peak season in the months of June to September and December to February because during the dry season, there is less rainfall therefore nature walk and hiking trails will be dry and passable compared to the wet season when the hiking and nature walk trails are wet, muddy and slippery.
Lake Bunyonyi is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, fish, and hippos. Over 200 species of birds have been recorded at the lake, including the crowned crane, the national bird of Uganda. The lake is also home to a variety of fish species, including the Nile perch, the tilapia, and the catfish. Hippos can be seen in the lake and along the shoreline.
