Overview

Serengeti National Park, located in northern Tanzania, is the ideal Tanzania Safari Destination. Covering approximately 14,750 square kilometers, it's famous for its breathtaking landscapes, iconic wildlife, and the awe-inspiring Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras. The name "Serengeti" derives from the Maasai language, meaning "endless plains," and it couldn't be more fitting.

Best Time to Visit

Serengeti offers year-round appeal, but the timing of your visit can shape your experience. To witness the Serengeti Great Migration, visit between late June and August when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. If you prefer fewer crowds, the months of January and February provide excellent game viewing, and the landscapes are lush and green after the short rains. The park is still captivating in the wet season from November to December when the migratory herds are in the south.

Wildlife

The Serengeti is a wildlife paradise, providing refuge to an extensive cast of characters. It's the stage for the Big Five (lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, and rhinos). The Great Migration is a highlight, featuring over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles in a constant quest for fresh grazing grounds.

The park is also home to cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. The acacia-dotted plains serve as the backdrop to predator-prey interactions that unfold daily. Serengeti Balloon Safaris are a unique way to appreciate the vastness of the park and the teeming wildlife below.

What to see

The Serengeti is more than just a national park; it's an icon of African wilderness. Whether you're seeking the drama of a lion's hunt, the grandeur of a thousand wildebeest on the move, or the tranquillity of a golden sunset on the savannah, the Serengeti delivers on every front. We understand the importance of great relationships, and that's why we have been cultivating ours on the continent for over decades.

From the very first inquiry email to my departure from Nairobi, Silas and his team at Safari Update Travels could not have been more supportive and friendly. I was met at the airport, delivered to the hotel and throughout the 3 day safari the driver, accommodation and food were superb.

I had an amazing experience in Masai Masa. I booked my Masai Mara 3 day 2 night package from Safari Update Travels. My point of contact was Silas who has always been available to answer all my queries. He is easily reachable. He had assigned to us tour guide Jack who did a brilliant job as we witnessed all big fives.

What a fantastic experience and trip Silas and the Safari Updates team organized. They are skilled, competent, and incredibly diligent. He accomplished our goal of taking safaris in both Kenya and Tanzania over the course of six days. Despite having made our booking for Kilimanjaro with a different Firm, he assisted us and remained in touch with us to see how we were doing.

I and my family went on a 7-day trip to Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, and to Masai Mara. Amboseli had the most amazing heart of elephants, as well as a spectacular view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. There are plenty of animals at Lake Nakuru... lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffe, buffalo.

The agent Xavier is very social and clear in his communication. We had a really great experience in Masai Mara. We enjoyed the game drives, and Martin was an excellent driver and guide. Very knowledgeable and was able to answer all the questions that we had. The accommodation in jambo mara was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
