Privacy Policy
What we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe — for every guest who requests a quote, books a safari, or simply browses our site.

01Our Privacy Promise
Safari Update is a Kenyan-owned, Nairobi-based, TRA-registered safari operator. Planning your trip means you naturally share personal details with us — your name, travel dates, passport information, sometimes a medical note. We collect only what we need to plan and deliver your safari, we never sell it, and we explain here, in plain language, what we hold and why.
02Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Booking and contact details — name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, postal address, nationality and passport details required for park permits and flight bookings.
- Trip preferences — travel dates, budget, interests, dietary and accessibility needs, and any medical information you choose to share so we can plan around it.
- Payment information — deposit and balance payments are processed by our card, M-Pesa or bank-transfer channels; we do not store full card numbers ourselves (see Security below).
- Website usage data — pages viewed, general location and device type, collected through analytics and, where you consent, marketing cookies.
03How We Use It
We use your information to:
- Prepare quotes, build itineraries and confirm bookings with camps, lodges, airlines and park authorities on your behalf.
- Communicate with you before, during and after your trip, including safety-relevant updates.
- Meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations as a registered Kenyan tour operator.
- Send you occasional travel updates or offers, only where you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time.
04Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies: essential cookies that keep the site and quote forms working, analytics cookies that help us understand which pages are useful, and, where enabled, marketing cookies that measure the performance of our advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time — the site will still function, though some preferences (like a saved quote draft) may not persist between visits.
05Security
Data submitted through our site travels over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection. Card payments are handled by PCI DSS-compliant payment gateways and M-Pesa’s own secure network — we never see or store your full card number. Internally, access to guest data is limited to the team members who need it to plan and deliver your safari.
06International Transfers
Some of the tools we rely on — website hosting, email delivery, payment processing — are operated by providers based outside Kenya. Where your data is processed abroad in this way, we work only with providers who maintain appropriate security and confidentiality safeguards, and your data is never shared with a supplier or partner beyond what is needed to deliver your booking.
07Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time — to reflect a new tool we use, a change in the law, or simply to make it clearer. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and where a change materially affects how we use your data we will make that clear here.
08Questions & Contact
If you have a question about your data, want a copy of what we hold, or would like us to delete it, email info@safariupdatestravel.com or write to us at Spur Mall, Ruiru, Kenya. We will respond within a reasonable time.
