Dry vs wet season
June to October is the long dry season across most of Kenya and Tanzania: dust, short grass and wildlife concentrated around water. November brings short rains, and March to May is the long, quieter wet season with dramatically lower rates.
Shoulder-season value
January and February sit between the rains — warm, mostly dry, and considerably less crowded than the July peak, with excellent big-cat action in the southern Serengeti.
If your dates are flexible, shoulder season gives you 80% of the wildlife experience for a fraction of the crowd and cost.
